Dear brothers and sisters in Christ: On
the weekend of May 26th and 27th, the parishes in our Diocese will take up a
second collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign. I’m taking this
opportunity to explain this campaign to you, and elaborate on how the collection
assists our Diocese and me in teaching and proclaiming the Gospel.
Pope Francis offers a concise, but impactful explanation when he says: “When we are faithful to God’s plan, communication becomes an effective
expression of our responsible search for truth, and our pursuit of goodness. “The
Catholic Communication Campaign helps the Church to spread the Gospel message
throughout the nation, and half of the funds are used specifically for local
efforts — half of those funds used to support projects such as our diocesan
podcast, online videos, weekly radio spots, an e-newsletter, evangelical initiatives
such as The Light Is ON and more. We recently launched a program called
the Walk Humbly Podcast, in which I address questions from the faithful and
the news of the day. And this is just the beginning: We will expand our ability to
share the Gospel, and inspire the faithful to grow closer to Jesus Christ
through the most appropriate and effective platforms available to us. My
hope is to bring our diocesan family and others closer together through these
modern, often digital, means of communication. But, I need your help.
Please consider a gift to the Catholic Communication Campaign. Thank you for
your prayerful consideration, dear friends, and may our Lord Jesus continue
to bestow upon you abundant blessings, now and always.
