@ooMONKEYoo Wake up, We don't live in a perfect world. We live in a world run by humanbeings. Capable of doing good or evil. So next time you question god, maybe you should question your self, or the persons doing destructious acts. Don't take it so hard this world is only the begining.

@bambam8541 Where is the proof that God DOES exist? In a book written by some guys thousands of years ago? And this fact that you'll go to Hell for not believing in God is in that book? You know what's also in a book? That Harry Potter is a wizard. It's a FACT, it's in a book.

@bambam8541 Obviously you don't understand my logic because I was stating you can't believe everything you read. So you stating that the definition of a word is in a book is not relevant to the point I was making.

So if you use your example with what I said, then you're saying the definition of ignorance might not be true.

And you still didn't answer the question. What's the proof that he does exist?

The thing about the bible that most people don't seem to get is the circular reasoning. The proof that the bible is the word of god is that it says it is. I'm apparently a moron because I need something other than the bible to prove the bible valid. Circular reasoning is not reasonable.

@dodgermutt I think that an A with a circle around it is the most agreed upon symbol. It looks like of like the @ symbol.

By the way, the nuclear cloud is a symbol for a political party in Iran that IS religious. So even if atheists wanted it, they've been beaten to the punch.

Bubba that is complete garbage. Atheists have shown throughout history a willingness to fight for freedom and liberty. To say otherwise only illustrates ignorance. That being the case which sacrifice is greater? Someone that is willing to fight and go to heaven or someone willing to fight with the only life they have.

@007HubbaBubba Creationism is a belief while evolution is science. People believe in evolution like they believe in gravity. The belief in a God or Gods is neither confirmed or denied by science. Science systematic knowledge of the physical world gained through observation and experimentation and it does not deal with anything super natural.

@wrt7 I think people should know about religion, just like they should know about other cultures and societies. Its only increases their knowledge of the human condition. i'm not saying they should practice, just know about it. But to make a claim that atheist are not the one's "blowing shit up" is ignorant. I served with the Marines in many countries; Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa. And all sorts of with and without interest in religion were "blowing shit up".

And wars, lets see, china is an atheist nation, did they ever go to war? what about the mongols (largest countries in history). Need more modern? Russia? There are plenty of atheist countries that terrorize and attack countries, we only hear about what we are up against now.

@triel77 I hope you realize that with the cycles of government, fighting for freedom and liberty rarely produces such things, but most often another corrupt government. We fight for freedom and liberty in iraq, and look how screwed over it is there. You cannot fight someone else's battle.

But for which is the greater sacrifice, i think both, as both are willing to sacrifice for someone else. The sacrifice is life, not their attitude towards afterlife.

The story of Darwin's recanting is not true. Shortly after Darwin's death, Lady Hope told a gathering that she had visited Darwin on his deathbed and that he had expressed regret over evolution and had accepted Christ. However, Darwin's daughter Henrietta, who was with him during his last days, said Lady Hope never visited during any of Darwin's illnesses, that Darwin probably never saw her at any time, and that he never recanted any of his scientific views (Clark 1984, 199; Yates 1994).

@wrt7 1st part: that in a society that promotes one standard, to go against it people need to be critical thinkers, and critical thinkers in general commit less crime. If you had an Islam nation, and someone in this nation born and raised, changed to lets say Buddhist, then odds are they won't commit crimes.

China during all the big wars, when they killed hundreds of thousands, they were atheist. For awhile, it was illegal to believe in a God.

Religion generally claims to be the truth and that their leader is the truth yet they lie constantly in the name of preserving their ideology.

If that is judgmental then so be it. Some times you just have to say it like it is and deal with the consequence.

@XSC3 Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of life and the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a supernatural agency, or human beings’ relation to that which they regard as holy, sacred, spiritual, or divine. Therefore, I don't really think it can be used when discussing ethics or general worldview, but this is just semantics. Thanks for the comment though.

I think there is something there, I don't know what it is in the universe, I don't know why I think there is some kind of 'source', but I do. I can provide NO evidence of a 'Higher Being', but because I'm not working in absolutes I don't need to provide anything. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence..

You arent giving me any credit for actually understanding you. I keep saying that you don't know what spirituality actually is. you have reduced it to "immaterial reality" While that is not correct, we can work with that. Spirituality investigates REAL things like morals, beliefs, thoughts, desires. Through opening these channels people can live better, more fulfilling lives. Even atheists can explore spirituality, it is fundamentally separate from religion, but can invoke it.

@bambam8541 I never knew it was a religious organziation. In my troop god or religion was almost never mentioned except for the Boy Scouts Oath. I never knew atheists weren't allowed to joined until I discovered it on the internet a few days before my Eagle Court of Honor.

@kjaoend you can be an atheist or a theist. you can't be none of the above. every person on the planet is agnostic, so the word becomes meaningless. he either believes in a god or he doesn't

@clipsryan well despite your argumentative tone, it appears you have backed off from your initial (an incorrect) rebuttal of the fact that spirituality and religion are not interchangeable words and I hope you can accept the idea that spirituality exists independently.

I understand that you, as many people are, are probably skeptical of engaging in spirituality but at least you see that it need not invoke religion to exist. It does invoke immaterial realities (morals, thoughts, feelings).

      @clipsryan

I never mentioned the movement of spirits, though it may make for a nice contemplation. A valid spirituality can simply be reflecting on ones beliefs and personal values, an activity that would be good for anyone. You are the one that keeps pushing the grandiose idea that ghosts or black cats are involved in this shit. Most spiritual people dont go near that stuff (although the loonies love it). I keep saying spirituality need not involve religion, why can't u just accept that.

      Sort of right.
A/Theist is "Do I BELIEVE that a god exists"
A/Gnostic is "Do I KNOW that God does (or does not) exist"

You can be any combination of them. That is, theist agnostic (I think god exists), theist gnostic (I know god exists), atheist agnostic (I believe (even 99.9%) god doesn't exist), atheist gnostic (I know 100% fact god doesn't exist).

A lot of atheists are atheist agnostics (myself included). I've never met a gnostic atheist.

If you are a spiritual person you are more likely to believe things on faith and authority, so the military structure is perfect for you. But, if you are a skeptic and a free-thinker you might question why we are invading and killing other peoples.

The atheist vs agnostic argument is ridiculous.

Do you believe in whatever God story?

      Agnostic: "no."
      Atheist: "no.

How much you DONT believe is irrelevant. You don't believe it. You don't pray, you don't read the bible, you don't praise a God.. you don't. You're an atheist.

@Lukeor Atheism is a disbelief in any deity or spirituality where agnosticism is a disbelief in some sort of creator but acknowledging that there is possibly some sort of spiritual side to life.

      @MrUser23456 Agnostic simply means A-without Gnostic-Knowledge.

It's the "I don't know" position, not the "I believe in spirituality"

The argument that people with low 'spiritual fitness' are less able to withstand the stress of the battlefield is not only woefully misinformed but insulting to those who have, can, and will. As many who do fall into this generalization replace religious or spiritual superstition with other coping mechanisms, or comforts such as family, loved ones, and friends. Even simple pleasures as coffee, cigarettes, exercise, hobbies…etc. This madness of 'sf' has also spread into some college. classes
